American unusual stoneware jug depicting an a painting of an Ostrich. Wonderful folk art depiction of the bird. The jug is a two gallon and is in very good condition with a chip that measures about 1"sq. I am sure that can be restored. There are no cracks. The jug measures 14"H x 8.5"Diameter. Found in Western NY State. The Jug is not signed or labeled. The true colors of the jug are shown in photos 1, 3,4,5,6,11,12. Close ups look a little oranged. NY residents pay sales tax. On Aug-20-08 at 09:28:15 PDT, seller added the following information:I wanted to add that the colbalt decoration of the ostrich is under the glaze. It was painted when the jug was made and then fired. I have had several questions about this and I just wanted to add this information to the listing.
